How UKIP should have won Heywood & Middleton

It was a great performance by UKIP to lose by only 617 votes but they could have won if they had been more streetwise in their choice of candidate. I am not being wise after the event. Look at what I wrote on 22nd September,

Mr Bickley had been tried twice before and the media were asking questions about his background.

My main criticism of his choice relates to his being male. I wrote yesterday about Farage & UKIP's well known lack of appeal to women voters.

It was blindingly obvious that to try and counteract this they should have chosen a local woman as candidate. Look how well they did in Eastleigh with Mrs James. This was made worse by Labour putting up a woman candidate.

A pity, a good result but it could have been the real game changer but Farage and his cabal of course had other things on their tiny minds.
